Borrowed Ground Radio
a sound installation
Borrowed Ground Radio broadcasts poems into wild spaces, tuning visitors in as they pass by and trigger an infrared sensor.
Each radio unit is a small, siteโspecific transmitter, inviting you to listen closely to the land around you.
Radio is a trusted, democratic medium that has always reinvented itself, reaching outward to a wide audience. Borrowed Ground Radio leans into this ethos by placing poetry in remote and unexpected places, offering both provocation and thoughtful reflection on our changing relationships with the landscapes we inhabit.
Each radio broadcasts a unique poem. A QR code on every box links to the text online and to a highโquality recording, ensuring accessible routes into the work for all visitors.
We hope you enjoy the broadcast!
The inaugural programme was transmitted from Oakhill Ponds, Somerset in October 2026, where itโs now a permanent installation.
The next transmission will be from Sladebank Woods in Stroud, 5th - 6th November 2026 for Stroud Book Festival.
